Klippel-Trenaunay Syndrom

KT syndrome, a type of venous malformation and a congenital vascular abnormality, mainly presents with varicose veins and capillary ectasia accompanied by birthmarks in the lower extremities, and in severe cases, abnormalities in bones or connective tissues. It may be accompanied by red spots in the form of protruding blood vessels or skin hemangioma, and in these cases, hemangioma is often observed not only in the legs but also in the spine or head.

Treatment of Klippel-Trenaunay Syndrom

1. Surgery
After checking the development of deep veins, the size and location of perforator veins using vascular ultrasound, a decision on the possibility of surgical treatment is made.

  • If the deep veins are normal, laser surgery or vascular sclerotherapy is most often prescribed.
  • If the deep veins are not developed, surgery is not possible and treatment is carried out by conservative methods.

2. Conservative treatment
Wearing medical compression stockings, prescribing anticoagulants and antibiotics.
